Episode 2 - 24 Nov '09

16 November 2009
Nonhle visits Kingston, Jamaica to interview Sean Paul, who has undoubtedly played a huge role in spreading the dancehall Gospel around the world.

Born Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques, the multi-platinum-seller and award-winner gets emotional when talking about his early life growing up in Kingston, with his big family of well-known swimmers and artists.

Nonhle also gets Sean Paul to comment on the links between Jamaican and African artists – giving a platform for his belief that the two should work more closely and "come together as one" in creating music, something that was reinforced by Sean Paul’s South African tour as well as his contact with artists like 2Face Idibia.

Alongside a look at Sean Paul’s life and beliefs is a fascinating examination of the artist’s music, including an insider’s take on the singles and collaborations that have propelled him to the top of the charts across the globe. Among these are "Baby Boy" with Beyonce, "Breathe" with Blu Cantrell and "Give It Up To Me" with Keisha Cole.

Also making for fascinating viewing is Sean Paul’s take on his new album Imperial Blaze which, surprisingly, doesn’t feature any collaborations at all.
